The Nobel-prize-winning Irish poet Seamus Heaney died suddenly at the end of August, and the Irish class this time will celebrate his work.  It will include poetry and prose by writers who influenced him in one way or another (Yeats, Joyce, Hopkins, Wordsworth, Kavanagh, Walcott, Brodsky) and perhaps one or two writers he influenced (Paul Muldoon, for instance); but most of the time we will be reading, writing and talking about Heaney's own poetry and his critical and autobiographical prose.
